Introduction SymbolWorld is a non-commercial website, providing safe, fun and easy to use on-line resources for symbol users. The ideas on the site have come from people with learning difficulties, their teachers and carers. It is a means of sharing much of the work created in schools, centres and at home. If you have anything you could share, please send it to us. It can be in any form - paper or Writing with Symbols. We will do the 'techi' stuff to put it on the web. The sections are: My world - With contributions from symbol users about themselves, any personal stories and writing, jokes etc, and also some short games that some symbol users might enjoy using. Stories - The main section has a range of stories, both fiction and non-fiction, which are suitable for symbol users across the age range. There is a special section of stories which are designed especially for older readers with learning difficulties. Learning - Will have a number of subject or topic categories with non-fiction material supporting formal and informal learning. These will be at a range of levels to suit different users. For example in the Science and Nature section, the Planets set is suitable for secondary aged pupils with an understanding of the concept of space, whilst the Frog Life Cycle and Dinosaurs may be suitable for younger learners. Some of these sections will also be of interest to all young children. eLive - A monthly magazine with regular news items, film reviews, jokes, games, recipe, features and profiles. The magazine can be read on-line or for some short registration details you can download a pdf for a printable version.
