Symbolworld has been set up to provide a web site with material suitable for symbol readers of all ages. The internet is an important medium which many people really like to use. Sadly there is very little material that is appropriate or accessible by people with learning difficulties.

The intention is that symbol readers, teachers and carers will contribute, and we are delighted at the number of contributors that have already sent us their work. Contribution details

The four areas are designed to provide a wide variety of content ranging from fun and entertainment through to curriculum materials and news or topical stories. In particular we aim to provide adult appropriate material for older readers.

It is a great pity that more of these articles cannot be supported by photographs.

We have contacted many of the news organisations, but all of the images are owned by news agencies who make very significant charges for even short term use of pictures. This will restrict much of the content in the topical section - there is little point in writing about David Beckham's new hairstyle if we can't use a photograph to show what it is like.
